I am Jacob Lopez, responsible for export business at Haining Longtime Industry Co., Ltd for fifteen years. I am often asked whether UV Pure Color Sheet is environmentally friendly. Today, I would like to clarify this from the product itself.

The Foundation of Environmental Friendliness: UV Curing Technology
Conventional panels with solid-color finishes typically use PU or NC spray paints. These coatings require large amounts of organic solvents for dilution during application, and after spraying, almost all the solvents evaporate, resulting in high VOC emissions that directly affect workshop air quality and leave residual odors in the finished products.
The key difference with UV Pure Color Sheet lies in its use of solvent-free UV-curable coatings. These coatings have a solid content of nearly 100%, requiring no solvent dilution. They are evenly applied to the substrate surface with precision roller coating equipment, and then exposed to high-energy ultraviolet light. The liquid coating undergoes a crosslinking reaction within seconds, instantly curing into a dense film. This process is a physico-chemical crosslinking, not solvent evaporation, so VOC generation is virtually eliminated at the production source.
The Substrate Also Determines the Upper Limit of Environmental Performance
A clean coating alone is not enough. If the substrate uses low-quality fiberboard with urea-formaldehyde glue that continuously releases formaldehyde, the product cannot be called environmentally friendly. Haining Longtime UV Pure Color Sheet uses premium fiberboard that meets E0 grade or CARB P2 standards, with formaldehyde emission controlled below 0.5 mg/L, and routine tests often show values below 0.3 mg/L – far superior to internationally accepted safety limits. Only when both substrate and coating are rigorously controlled can the overall environmental performance of the finished product be guaranteed.
During Use: No Secondary Release, Ready to Use Immediately
Once the UV coating is fully cured, it forms an extremely dense barrier layer. Unlike traditional paints that still release residual solvents slowly after film formation, UV Pure Color Sheet, after being made into furniture or installed, has no noticeable odor and no late-stage release of VOCs or formaldehyde. This is particularly important for sensitive spaces such as children's rooms, hospitals, and schools, enabling truly immediate occupancy.
Our products were used in a rehabilitation hospital project in Stuttgart, Germany, for ward furniture and wall paneling. The hospital required zero off-gassing period after completion. Local laboratories conducted a 28-day emission test on randomly selected production panels according to ISO 16000 standards. Formaldehyde was below 0.01 ppm, TVOC was nearly undetectable, and the subjective odor evaluation passed on the first attempt. Though not a large project, it fully validated the product's environmental performance under real extreme requirements.
Full Life-Cycle Environmental Considerations
Environmental friendliness goes beyond the use phase. UV Pure Color Sheet typically achieves a surface hardness of 3H to 4H, with good scratch resistance, yellowing resistance, and resistance to common household chemicals. The product's long service life means furniture and interiors are replaced less frequently, reducing solid waste generation and the carbon emissions associated with repeated production from a full life-cycle perspective.
In the disposal stage, the UV coating contains no halogens or heavy metals. The panels can be used as clean high-calorific wood fuel for energy recovery, with relatively simple combustion products that do not produce more harmful emissions than ordinary wood.
Three Essential Conditions for an Environmentally Friendly Product
Based on our years of production and testing experience, a truly environmentally friendly UV Pure Color Sheet must meet three conditions:
- Use high-solid, solvent-free UV coatings that are fully cured to form a completely crosslinked inert film;
- The substrate's formaldehyde emission stably meets E0 or equivalent standards;
- The quality control system is traceable, with retained samples from each batch and regular third-party testing.
At Haining Longtime, we use German-imported UV coatings, equipped with a fully automatic roller coating line and precise UV energy control. Physical samples are retained from every batch, and we commission type tests from SGS and other agencies on a quarterly basis. What we can offer you is not vague claims, but clear test data and reproducible product performance.
If you are looking for a proven environmentally friendly decorative panel for your project, feel free to contact me directly. We have ready test reports, traceable case records, and samples that can be sent out at any time – let the product speak for itself.
